2011 International Transport Forum
Transport for Society

For three days, Ministers from the International Transport Forum’s 52 member countries, prominent business leaders, top academics and representatives of civil society gathered in Leipzig in Germany from 25 to 27 May 2011 to debate the theme “Transport for Society”. Participants listened to inspiring keynotes and engaged in a vibrant exchange on the future of mobility, with issues ranging from road safety to accessibility, mobility rights to financing transport systems under tight budgets, sustainable urban travel to balancing transport security with civil liberties. Now in its fourth year, the International Transport Forum’s annual summit has clearly established itself as the leading global mobility event.

The rich output of the high-calibre debates in Leipzig is accessible via this website. You can watch the keynotes by Jeffrey Sachs, Jeremy Rifkin, Enrique Penalosa and Jaime Lerner. You can listen to interviews with speakers and participants. You can download documents such as session summaries, presentations or discussion papers prepared especially for the 2011 summit. And of course you can click through hundreds of photos that bring alive the panels as well as the many side events – the Award presentations and the eSafety demonstration, the VIP Cycling tour through central Leipzig and the Gala Dinner, the Children’s University and the hustle and bustle of the exhibition.

You can also watch the videos in the International Transport Forum’s YouTube and DailyMotion channels. Photos from Leipzig 2011 can be viewed and downloaded from our Flickr photostream.
