Trends in Transport: 2012 edition with latest data |
|

|
Authoritative, up-to-date statistical data on global transport developments
can be found in the latest edition of the Forum's annual Trends in Transport
publication.
How have the passenger and freight transport sectors evolved in recent years and during the crisis? And what about road safety? This
pocket-sized brochure presents data on global trends in the transport sector with
the latest figures on the impact of the recent economic crisis.
In addition, Trends in Transport 2012 provides the reader with the latest statistics on transport markets in International Transport Forum member countries for the period 1970-2010 for all modes of transport.
Some preliminary data for 2011 are also included.

- Secretary-General José Viegas and Head of Research Stephen Perkins met
with Brazilian Transport Minister Paulo Sergio Passos in Brasilia in July
to discuss areas of interest in the Forum's work for the world's 7th largest economy.
- The Forum renewed its ties as an observer organisation with the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC). At the meeting of APEC's Transportation Working Group in St. Petersburg, Russia, in July, the Forum was able to provide input from member countries' ministers' discussions at the Forum's 2012 Summit in May in Leipzig, Germany.

The report "Sharing Road Safety" by the Forum road
safety working group (summary
document here) was presented by economist Jari Kauppila at a
workshop organised by the International Road Assessment
Programme (iRAP) in London, UK in June.
Key findings on the framework for reporting, assessing and conducting
research on road safety countermeasures were widely supported by international road safety experts.
- As part of the Road Safety Training Programme of the African Development Bank, Forum expert Véronique Feypell presented insights from the work of the Forum's International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD) on the importance of road safety data for assessing road safety issues and designing policies to address these.

Transport Infrastructure Conference in Paris |

|
The Forum is partnering with French business newspaper Les Echos for the conference "Infrastructures de transports 2012", to be held in Paris on 20 November. French Transport Minister Frédéric Cuvillier will open the event, followed by a keynote from Forum Secretary-General José Viegas. Further speakers include Louis-Roch Burgard, Director-General of Vinci Concessions, François Rubichon, Deputy Director-General of Aéroports de Paris and Henry Marty-Gauquié, Director at the European Investment Bank (EIB). François Vidal, editor-in-chief of Les Echos, will moderate the discussion. More information is available at

on eBay to raise funds for lectures in the Children's University programme. Bidding
